Well, here we are in the new forums. It seems like my ISP has finally gotten all their issues sorted out–forums have been accessible for 24 hours now…
So what’s been going on the past week? Obviously, getting the new forums up and running, and dealing with the ISP, was a bit of a PITA. There’s been some forward motion with regards to funding, but nothing final yet. Hopefully I’ll have more news on that soon. Otherwise, I’ve just continued to work on the first ship’s texturing.
You’ll recall that I was working on the interior, which is coming along really well. I actually took a bit of extra time and added some more art to support the development of future gameplay aspects. The changes required some updated mapping, and then textures had to be modified a bit. BUT, that work is almost done. Here’s a quick screen grab from the modeling software of a portion of the interior:
You can see some of the passenger seating in the background, along with the shoulder restraints. The cargo compartments in the floor are open, and the lower attachment port access door and exterior hatch are open. As you can see, I’m trying to give the interior the same worn, used look as the exterior. Again, this is basic diffuse texturing only–no special shaders, shadows, normal mapping, etc.
Assuming no interference this weekend, I’ll be able to start getting the new fighter in game next week.
From now on, I’ll be posting dev entries here. I’ll be locking registration at the old forums and setting everything to read-only this weekend. So, this will be the place to come for new info from here out.
