A very quick update today. I spent a few days getting the ship exterior “unwrapped” (prepped so textures can be applied). While I was doing this I was experimenting with different styles of texturing–trying to find a good balance between detail and resolution. What I came up with should look very good not only on smaller ships, but on the larger ones, too. So, now I’m getting a base texture applied, and then I’ll go back and detail it out. The goal is to have that done by the end of the coming week so I can start working on the interior.
I also came up with the method that will allow the ships to visually represent different armor types (so you’ll be be able to look at a ship and know what type of armor the owner has added).
Finally, I may have some very exciting news concerning project financing. It’s not a done deal yet but does look promising. If everything comes together I’ll be releasing an official press release.
Otherwise, have a good weekend :)
